Recital Day

Crosby Middle School Gym

Saturday, May 25th

11 AM

BEFORE ARRIVAL:

  • Practice makeup for recital day (dress rehearsal is a great opportunity!)

  • Double check you have everything you need packed & ready to go! Make sure tights do not have runs.

  • Eat a good breakfast (& maybe a snack depending on how early you eat!)

  • Practice routine(s) at home - keeps it fresh on the brain as we will not have time for groups to run through their dances on Saturday before the show.

  • Style hair and makeup BEFORE arriving. Come in the costume for your first performance.

  • Make sure you have your wristbands (tickets)! (Pick them up at CDA in advance!)

  • Front load your (young) students about not being scared, expect lots of people etc. Tell them how proud you will be to watch them dance & perform!

PARK & ENTER:

  • Check in -10:15-10:30 AM. Doors open to spectators at 10:30.

  • Come dressed in your first costume with hair and makeup done for your first performance.

  • Please take your (young dancers especially) to use the restroom before arriving. Restrooms are available in the dressing room as well as outside the gym.

  • Enter through door #20 to the Gym (in front of stadium, back of school).

  • Concessions and flower orders can be picked up in the area outside the gym.

IF YOUR STUDENT HAS MULTIPLE COSTUMES:

  • Students with more than one costume will drop off their items in the dressing room. The dressing room is directly across from the gym (the dance room).

  • Students needing assistance should be chaperoned at all times in the dressing room. CDA Staff will NOT help your child change costumes, go the restroom, etc.

  • ONLY FEMALES are allowed in the dressing room as there could be girls changing at any given time.

  • Point out Dressing Room to students so they can meet you there (if old enough).

IF YOUR STUDENT HAS 1 COSTUME OR AFTER COSTUMES DROPPED OFF IN DRESSING ROOM

  • *PLEASE know the name of your student’s class, day, & time.

  • Drop off your dancer with the Parent Volunteer for that class. Dancers will have an assigned seat while they wait with their class for their performance.

  • After you drop off your dancer, head to the opposite side of the gym to show your wristband and take your seat in the stands.

    • Pick up your 2 FREE wristbands & any pre-ordered wristbands early to avoid waiting in line the day of the show!

  • Please do not save more than 1 seat, for your performer to join you after they perform.

  • The dancers will stay with the Class Parent Volunteers in the back of the gym until it’s their turn to dance, then Class Parent Volunteers will walk groups to the dance floor.

IF YOUR STUDENT DOES NOT PERFORM UNTIL ACT II

  • Please follow all check in procedures outlined above and locate your performer's seat in the back of the gym. The only difference is that your student will sit with you during Act I.

  • After Intermission, all Act II performers will take their assigned seats in the back of the gym with their classes & Parent Volunteers, and spectators will return to their seats.

DURING THE PERFORMANCE

  • Teachers will meet their classes on the dance floor.

  • Cheer loud for your favorite dancer(s) and applaud each class! Performers love the encouragement!

  • Do not enter/exit during performances. Wait until between groups.

  • CMS Star Steppers are offering concessions including candy, chips, drinks, & pizza! Please bring cash!

AFTER THE PERFORMANCE

  • After they perform, students will either go sit with their chaperone in the stands, go sit with the Parent Volunteers in the back of the gym, or change costumes for their next performance.

  • If your dancer has a costume change & needs assistance – you must help them.  CDA Staff will NOT help students change costumes or use the restroom. They can pin a top or something of the like, but children who need help MUST be assisted by their parents!

  • We tried to make sure every dance has 3 performances between theirs to give them time to change. If you find an error, please let us know ASAP.

  • After they perform, you can pick your student up as they exit the floor (audience's left side). They can watch the rest of the show with their caregiver. If you do not get your child in time, we will take them back to the area for finished performers with Parent Volunteers. You can pick your child up from there as well.

  • Performers do NOT need a ticket to watch the show.

  • Please DO NOT leave early. We have a SPECIAL Presentation at the end of the show with ALL performers.

Reminder: all accounts must be current (paid in full) for students to perform in recital.
